How we use these technologies

"Cookies" is the usual shorthand, but it covers a few things: cookies themselves, browser local storage, and small scripts that measure how a page is used. This page covers all of them.

Necessary technologies always run, because without them the site cannot work or remember the choice you made here. Everything else runs only if you say yes, and nothing is loaded until you do — the optional tags are held inert in the page and are only switched on once you have granted the category they belong to.

The four categories

  • Necessary. Keeping the site working, and remembering your cookie choice and your light or dark theme. Always active.
  • Functional. Optional embedded services, such as a video player. Off unless you allow it.
  • Analytics. How the site is used — which pages people read, which ones they leave, whether a guide leads anywhere. Off unless you allow it.
  • Advertising. Whether an advert or a shared link actually led to a download. Off unless you allow it.

What we actually use

WhatCategoryWhat it does
Theme preferenceNecessaryOne local-storage entry remembering light or dark. Never sent to us.
Consent choiceNecessaryOne local-storage entry remembering what you chose here, so we stop asking.
Google AnalyticsAnalyticsWhich pages are visited, roughly where from, and on what device. IP addresses are anonymised.
Google Tag ManagerAnalyticsLoads the measurement tags above. It sets nothing by itself.
Click (our own link tracker)AnalyticsRecords that a page was viewed, and a first-party visitor id so several page views can be recognised as one visit. Self-hosted by us.
Campaign tokenAnalyticsIf you arrived through one of our own tracked links, the link's id, so we can tell which of our posts or videos is worth continuing. It identifies the link, not you.
Meta pixelAdvertisingMeasures whether an advert led to a download. Only present if advertising is enabled and you have allowed it.

We do not sell any of this, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

The desktop app

The IntroEdits application is not a website and sets no cookies. It stores your sign-in session on your own computer, so you do not have to sign in every launch, and only while you have asked to be remembered. Your music and your DJ library never leave your machine — see the privacy policy.

Changing your mind

Use the link, which is also in the footer of every page. Your choice takes effect immediately, and turning a category off stops the relevant tags from loading on the next page you visit.

You can also clear the site's data in your browser, which removes everything listed above and means we will ask again on your next visit.
